Canadian band Slash Puppet‘s album, ‘No Strings Attached‘, was taken from a recording done in 1989 called ‘The Demo‘, but it did not really see the light of day much until SunCity Records released it again in 2007, though it did spurn a music video for the first track, ‘Slow Down‘. Already it is out of print, hard to find and typically quite expensive when you do find it. The band also released a self-titled, six song EP in 1993, another out of print and extremely expensive one. A sad fact that we who love this genre of music all have to deal with far too often.

With a sound akin to bands like Babylon A.D., Slash Puppet had all the makings of being a big success, but sadly these guys never got to grow too much due to the old story that is so familiar to us of a band getting crushed and pushed aside due to the grunge era, and now this band is a little known one who has long since gone their separate ways, but left us with this beauty of a record and a stellar EP.

Honestly the only thing that I can complain about with this record is the price, which is not the band’s fault of course, and the length. Coming in at a mere eight tracks, it lands at barely more than an EP. I wish SunCity had gathered the rest of the band’s material and released it all together like they did with Blue Tears.

If you can find this album, or the EP, for less than an arm and a leg then they are most certainly worth the price and I do not feel like you will be disappointed in them one bit. Blazing guitars, great vocals and some damn good rock n’ roll insure that you will be drumming your fingers along with the beat on the steering wheel and singing along in no time.

Very highly recommended.
